A message from your President –
Tony Mann
You’ll have read on the front page of this month’s newsletter the club’s magnificent
achievement of being Highly Recommended in the category of Active for Life Participation Award at the Brighton & Hove City Sports and
Physical Activity Awards last month.
It was a great honour to collect this award on behalf of our club. A lot of club members have worked extremely hard to earn us this nomination and recognition. Our work within and for the community of Brighton & Hove through our Come & Try Days, our participation in TAKEPART and the Festival of Sport and our partnership with BLAGSS have proven our commitment to promote our fantastic sport to the wider community and not just keep it to ourselves.
Hopefully it also justifies, to some extent, the terrific support and investment that Brighton & Hove Council and in particular Sports Development has invested in us in terms of our terrain and the potential club storehouse facilities. In my view it is extremely important that our club continues to support Council initiatives and work in partnership with them.
Our AGM is fast approaching and I encourage all members to attend. We are a club that is run by unpaid volunteers and at times this can seem to be a thankless task for those that dedicate their times and energies. Therefore please show your support by attending your club’s AGM on Sunday 29th November.
The AGM is not all about electing the next EC.
• It is also your chance to decide the club membership subscription rates for 2010
• To hear reports from me as the current President and from Olive as your Treasurer
• We will be in a position to provide you with more details of the costs of the PST Club Storehouse. In particular the business rent and rates that are to be charged by the Council
• We will announce the final table for the Autumn Mixed Doubles League
• We will have presentations for the Autumn Mixed Doubles League and also the Spring Doubles League
• We will announce the winner of the 2009 Player of the Year Award
• There will be other surprises too
This is also your chance to ask questions of the current and future EC.
With the total number of members reaching an amazing club record of 108 it also means that we must have at least 27 members in attendance at the AGM for the meeting to take place and for the club to continue to run it’s business.
In short we need you there to continue to run your club so I sincerely hope to see as many as you as possible at our AGM on the 29th November.
